VINYASA 101 - Build a Safe Vinyasa Practice

trikonasana.jpg

with Christen Landry, RYT-500

Saturday, August 4th

10:30am - 12:30pm

$30

An "alignment-centered vinyasa" approach offers the best of both worlds: a practice that’s fluid and fun, but at the same time, safe and sustainable.
In this workshop we will dissect the traditional vinyasa - plank, chaturanga, cobra, upward-facing dog and downward-facing dog – in order to discover and imprint the proper actions and alignment that build a confident practice.

At it’s heart, vinyasa -to place in a special way; to move purposefully and with intention - is what makes yoga asana so powerful, regardless of the style and pace of your practice

Yin Yoga Certification - Energy Body, Meridians and Fascia

Childs Pose.jpg

YIN YOGA CERTIFICATION

Energy Body, Meridians and Fascia

with Sandra Carden, ERYT-500

10 mornings from
Monday to Friday
August 20-25 & 27-31
6:00am - 8:30am
Tuition $450

Yin (or Taoist) Yoga is nature-based and centuries old. It is the process of introspection toward intelligent alignment and letting go to that, allowing holistic remodeling open new pathways. Yin calls forth the forces of nature to enhance the body’s wisdom and own healing.

Through accessing and releasing connective tissue in long-held postures of repose, the physical body is cleansed and rejuvenated. Realigned to best channel prana, or life force, the energy body is sparked to life. The coursing of prana through the meridians, or nadis, awakens kundalini, the impetus to expand and shine. Focused breathing stills and clarifies the mind, erasing negativity and doubt and preparing the way for visionary accomplishment.

Yin Yoga is a great counterpoint and enhancement to more muscular, aerobic, or Yang Yoga styles. Yin Yoga affects joints by increasing lubrication and range of motion, and bone density through evenly held weight bearing.

This 30-hour Certification course is designed for anyone with some basic yoga experience, regardless of strength or flexibility. Those completing the course will receive a certification to teach Yin Yoga, although completion may be solely for your own health, insight and education.

PRANAYAMA 101 - Yoga Breathwork Demystified

with Dorothy Sirrine, RYT-500

shutterstock_599270669.jpg

Saturday, July 14th

10:30am-12:30pm

$35

Breathing is the most vital process of the mind and body. The effects of pranayama can be profound, influencing our mood, our thoughts, and our overall vitality.

Come learn the basics, or deepen your understanding, in what will primarily be an experiential setting. We’ll explore different forms of pranayama, starting with those that are typically most accessible and moving toward more involved breath techniques. This class will draw from a Viniyoga tradition, meaning we’ll explore how different techniques resonate for you as an individual without rigid expectations. You will leave with skills to take a pranayama practice into your daily life.

This is a great class for just about everyone, but perhaps specifically athletes, those seeking greater mental clarity and focus, chronic pain sufferers, and those seeking tools to ease depression, anxiety, and trauma.

Thus the yoga mat becomes a laboratory, or microcosm, to learn about life, to slow down, and to calm the nervous system. Her classes draw from diverse traditions including Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, & Kundalini. Having completed her 200-hour level teacher training with Sandra Carden of Union Yoga in 2009, she is also highly influenced by Sandra Carden's/Union Yoga's unique, alignment-based approach to hatha yoga. REPLENISH & REVIVE - A Woman's Retreat in Leelanau

JUNE 23-25, 2017

Celebrate Summer! Enjoy a deeply restorative and rejuvenating women’s retreat in beautiful Leelanau County. Together, we will find the rhythm of your true nature as you unplug, unwind, and leave the stresses of daily life behind.

The focus of this residential weekend is to reconnect with your feminine essence and harmonize with your unique soul. By turning away from cell phones, electronics & the demands of the world, we turn towards our inner lives, arriving in the resplendent present moment.

Dive into the beauty of nature, practicing yoga asana, meditation, simple every-day rituals, inquiry and self-discovery. We will create the space for you to connect to your authenticity and the pleasure of being.

The weekend will consist of 2 morning yoga classes, 2 late afternoon yoga classes and 4 teachings aimed towards expanding and deepening your self-understanding.

In addition to daily practice, there will be quiet time to relax, walk in nature, enjoy the sauna, lounge in the hammock, celebrate, laugh, and simply be together.

Sequencing Workshop with Sandra Carden, E-RYT 500

SATURDAY, MAY 27th

1 - 3:30pm

$45

Sequencing in yoga means linking a series of asanas (postures) through breath in an intelligent and warming progression. Properly advancing in practice warms the body slowly and from within, rather than from an artificially heated environment. Build strength and radiance through proceeding mindfully and incrementally. This workshop is designed to prepare you for a more deeply healing yoga experience, whatever your level, or a smart and safe vinyasa flow.

Sandra Carden, E-RYT 500, has taught the ancient science and art of yoga since the early 1970s. Her fascination with the connective matrix of all existence is what led her to yoga. Yoga’s power to use the vehicle of the body to control and shape the mind is what has kept her interested. You will find her classes uplifting, intelligent, inspiring and fun.
